Charles Adolphe Gand's violin

 

We propose a great instrument from Charles Adolphe Gand (1812-1866), in very good state of conservation. The work of this instrument is typical of this author.

Oldest son of Charles François, born in Paris, he worked in his father's workshop before running it when his father died, in 1845. In 1855, he founded with his brother Charles Nicolas Eugène the Gand Brothers House. At his death in 1866, his brother then associated with Ernest and Gustave Bernardel, which gave birth to Gand and Bernardel Brothers House.
