Nicolas Maire's violin bow

This bow, nickel silver mounted, was made circa 1835 by Nicolas Maire (1800-1878).

Nicolas Maire was born in Mirecourt, where he worked as an apprentice before installing his workshop in 1826. He assisted Pajeot even if he was not his employee; before moving his workshop in paris around 1853. In parallel, he kept working for Gand, Vuillaume and Chanot. He realised high quality and beautiful made bows, today very sought after.
